Gröbenzell was founded in 1952 as a political community. In this case, districts of Munich, Puchheim, Olching and Geiselbullach were merged to form a location around the train stop Gröbenzell. In public transport Gröbenzell is connected with its own stop of the line S3 (Mammendorf - Holzkirchen) to the S-Bahn network of the Munich Transport and Tariff Association. Munich city center can be reached in about 20 minutes.

There is also a bus service to Lochhausen and Puchheim via the BUS-Logo-blau.svg regional bus 830, which connects the S-Bahn stops in both places, and a night line via the night bus N80 / N81 from the Pasinger Marienplatz.
